All our timber framed greenhouses are made from Western Red Cedar, a natural product perfectly suited for Greenhouses, it produces natural oils which act as a preservative to protect itself from decay and insect attack making it highly durable and capable to last for years!
It’s also a very stable timber that stays straight and flat with minimal shrinkage suited to the changes in temperature and humidity in greenhouses.
We also make greenhouses in Redwood, a cheaper alternative to Western Red Cedar with the same looks as our other high quality timber buildings as shown in the picture below.
Our Redwood greenhouses framing is vac vac pressure treated.

Four main designs are available and all made to order to whatever size or combination you require:

Victorian style

– with its 45º pitch roof & narrow panes, freestanding or fitted onto a dwarf wall.

Modern style

– with its 30º pitch roof & wider panes, freestanding or fitted onto a dwarf wall.

Lean-to style

– walls to ground or fitted onto a dwarf wall.

Shed/greenhouse combination style

– with a 30° pitch roof, freestanding or fitted onto a dwarf wall.

Where space is an issue, choice of a freestanding octagonal greenhouse can be made!

Freestanding greenhouse have a choice of glass to ground or cedar boards to staging height or even a combination of both.

Frame

Walls & Roof are constructed from 3” x 2” making a very strong structure. Choice of eaves height. All glazed with 4mm clear toughened safety glass (as well as been safe toughened glass is low in iron making it more clearer, perfect for greenhouses) A choice of louvre vent or traditional storm proof sash is available, The roof sashs are controlled by autovents which operate on a wax cylinder system, opening wider depending on the temperature!

Door

Either a 2′ or 2’6” wide door (depending on greenhouse width) made to external door quality hung on three 4” ball bearing stainless steel butts, choice of inward or outward opening, secured with a Union black rimlock, choice of black, brass, chrome plated knob sets.

Finish

All timber buildings come with two coats of oil based preservative followed by two coats of stain with any colour of your choice using either Sikkens Novatech 2 coat system for a semi-gloss finish

Having ordered a timber built garage from Hesket Timber Buildings we found the quality of the materials to be of a high standard as promised, Martins attention to detail in the construction and finish of the building was second to none.

Our only concern was would it survive the very high winds we experience living on the top of a hill in rural Dumrfies & Galloway. I can now say having recently had a 3 day period of high winds gusting in excess of 94mph +,we found the garages “belt and braces” construction to be more than adequate for the wind speeds experienced.
